From a strategic standpoint, HCC HTRIHealth has positioned itself as a first mover in integrated long-term care services within Taiwan. The group anticipated macro trends, notably a rapidly aging population and an imminent shortage of elderly care resources, and proactively reoriented its strategy as early as 2004 to focus on geriatric and chronic care. Rather than building or acquiring its own nursing homes, HCCH pursued an asset-light expansion by extending medical services into existing LTC institutions. This innovative “beyond the hospital walls” strategy leverages the hospital’s clinical expertise across a wide network of partner facilities, allowing rapid expansion of reach with minimal capital outlay. As a result, HCCH–TRIHealth now enjoys a scale and network density in elder care services that no competitor currently matches in Taiwan, conferring both brand leadership and valuable data insights.
